What is Engineering Degree Certificate Apostille in India?
Engineering Degree Certificate Apostille in India is the official government validation confirming the authenticity of your certificate for overseas visa, immigration, employment, and academic use. The process is authenticated through State HRD/SDM, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and the destination country's embassy.
About Engineering Degree Certificate Apostille
Comprehensive Guide to Engineering Degree Certificate Apostille
An engineering degree apostille is a square, computer-generated certificate that MEA fixes to the back of your degree. It confirms that the signature and seal of the Indian officer who verified the document are genuine. India joined the Hague Apostille Convention of 5 October 1961 with effect from 14 July 2005, so member countries accept this certificate without embassy legalisation.
The apostille does not certify the quality of your programme, your grades or whether your degree is equivalent to a local engineering degree. Those decisions belong to the engineering bodies and recognition centres in the destination country. The apostille's role is narrower: it proves that the Indian authorities have verified your degree. Each apostille has a unique number that can be checked online on the MEA verification facility. MEA
Germany objected to India's accession, and the objection still stands, so an Indian apostille has no legal effect for German authorities. German missions in India stopped legalising Indian documents in 2000 and offer document verification instead, which only a German authority can request. China joined the Convention in 2023, but India objected to China's accession, so an engineering degree for China needs MEA attestation followed by Chinese Embassy or Consulate legalisation. Ask your employer for a written list before you begin. Most rework in engineering cases comes from legalising the degree first and discovering later that the transcript or marks memo was also needed. Polytechnic diploma
The btech degree certificate attestation process has three stages in India, plus foreign stages for attestation countries.
The university that awarded the degree confirms it. For engineering, this is often an affiliating university such as a state technical university, not the college you attended. Autonomous colleges teach and examine, but the degree is usually still issued by the affiliating university, so verification goes to that university. Deemed universities, IITs, NITs and other institutes confirm their own degrees.
The HRD, Higher Education or Technical Education Department of the state where the university is located verifies the degree. Maharashtra degrees go through the Mantralaya, and Kerala degrees get HRD attestation through Norka Roots. Engineering degrees do not go to the SDM or the Home Department; those routes are for personal documents. HRD, Higher Education or Technical Education Department
MEA apostilles the degree for Hague countries or attests it for non-Hague countries. Hague countries need nothing more for legalisation.
For the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and similar countries, the embassy attests the degree after MEA, and in the Gulf the Ministry of Foreign Affairs completes the chain. For the UAE, after MEA attestation one online application covers both the UAE Embassy in New Delhi and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs; a MOFA-approved provider collects the original, and the digitally attested document is emailed. For most engineers, the legalised degree is not a formality. In the Gulf, the visa category and the job title printed on your residence permit are tied to your qualification, and the immigration system checks the attested degree before it grants an engineer category. Without engineering degree attestation, an employer may have to file you under a different title, which can affect your salary grade, your right to sign drawings and even your ability to sponsor your family.

Why Choose Pro Attestation for Engineering Degree Certificate Apostille?
Pro Attestation is a reliable name for Certificate Attestation in India, offering complete certificate attestation services for students, professionals, families and businesses. Every Indian document that is used abroad needs official verification, and attestation is the legal process that makes your certificate acceptable to foreign governments, employers and universities. We handle personal, educational and commercial documents through the genuine government chain, from notary and state departments to the Ministry of External Affairs, the embassy and the foreign ministry.
For documents going to the United Arab Emirates, we provide complete UAE embassy attestation for degree certificates, diplomas, marriage certificates, birth certificates, PCC and commercial documents. Because the UAE is not part of the Hague Convention, an apostille is not accepted there. After UAE embassy attestation, documents need MOFA attestation by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is the final step that makes them valid for employment visas, family visas, equivalency certificates and business licences. Pro Attestation manages both stages together, so you do not have to arrange MOFA attestation separately after reaching the UAE.
Educational certificates first need HRD attestation from the Human Resource Development Department of the state where they were issued. HRD attestation confirms that your degree, diploma or mark sheet is genuine and is mandatory before MEA attestation or apostille. We cover HRD attestation for every Indian state, including the extra Home Department and Norka Roots step for certificates issued in Kerala, and the Mantralaya process in Maharashtra.
For countries that are members of the Hague Convention, our apostille services offer a faster and simpler route. A single MEA apostille sticker makes your document valid in more than 120 countries, including the USA, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Australia, Japan and South Korea. Our apostille services cover educational certificate apostille, personal document apostille, PCC apostille and commercial document apostille for study, work, permanent residence and business.
Whether you need certificate attestation for a job in Dubai, apostille services for a master's degree in Germany, HRD attestation for your engineering degree, UAE embassy attestation for a marriage certificate, or MOFA attestation for a family visa, Pro Attestation handles the full process from start to finish.
